MCREST (Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team)

is a cooperative effort between Catholic and non-Catholic faith communities to reach out to the homeless of Macomb County.

The goal of MCREST is to assist the most needy in our midst to lift themselves up and out of the complicated circumstances which have contributed to their poverty:  both economically as well as spiritually.

In essence…MCREST is a vehicle to serve others.

MCREST  is love in action!

After consulting with the leaders at MCREST, we have mutually decided that SJV will not host the MCREST guests in person at our parish this Summer.

While the women and children are now housed in a home owned by MCREST, the men will continue to be housed at a local hotel, similar to the last two years.

As such, SJV has committed to covering the costs for housing and will provide meals during the week we were scheduled to host August 14th – 21st.

We are asking anyone who might have donated food or other items for MCREST in the past to please consider a monetary donation this year to help offset the costs of the housing and food for our week.

Thank you as always for your ongoing support of MCREST.

If you have any questions, please contact Susan Wasmund at or 586.907.2423.
