Religious Education Programs

Parents are the first and most important teachers and examples of our Catholic beliefs and so we are counting on you to be involved in your child’s faith formation.

Religious Education begins when a child enters the 1st grade and continues through Confirmation. Continuous participation in religious education classes through and beyond the sacrament years will nourish their spiritual growth in our faith.

Option 1

  • FALL Semester–
  • September/October/November/December
  • Class is on Monday
  • 5:00-6: 30 pm
  • Family Enrichment programs for the entire family throughout the school year. They will be on Monday nights from 5-6:30pm and no class will be held.

Classes start on Monday, September 11, 2023

 Option 2

  • SPRING Semester–
  • January/February/March /April
  • Class is on Monday
  • 5:00-6:30 pm
  • Family Enrichment programs for the entire family throughout the school year.They will be on Monday nights from 5-6:30pm and no class will be held.

Classes start on Monday, January 8, 2024

We follow the Utica Community School calendar, so when they do not have class we do not.

Home-Based Family Program

Grades Kindergarten-6

Great opportunity to share your faith with your children at your own pace and on your own schedule.  

  • Parents pick up all materials at Registration.
  • Monthly turn in dates for work completed.(October-April)
  • Each child receives a grade-specific workbook and a syllabus. 
  • Link to online help for each chapter.
  • Work with your child to focus on Bible stories and vocabulary words.
  • Family Enrichment programs for the entire family throughout the school year. They will be on Monday nights from 5-6:30pm.

Confirmation is a TWO year process. 7th grade and up

We do not offer a home study program for either year.

Which program do I register for?

  • You will register for year ONE if…
    • Your child is in 7th grade.
  • You will register for year TWO if…
    • You have completed year one of the confirmation prep. 
    • If you completed 7th grade religious ed in another parish. 

Year ONE Students: 

  • The program runs from September through April with a break in December.
  • Students will meet in person twice a month.
  • Monday(7-8:30pm) OR Tuesday(5-6:30pm) you will select at registration.
  • Students will be responsible for working on a short packet at home to help them better understand the topics they are learning about. 
  • All students will be required to attend meetings and complete their packets.
  • First meeting will be September 11th or 12th.
  • Mandatory parent meeting on first night of class, will last 1/2 hour. 

Year TWO Students: 

  • The program runs from September through April with a break in December.  
  • Small Groups will meet in person twice a month for an hour. 
  • Students will pick a day and time to attend a small group. The small group you pick will be the small group you are in October-April
    • The small groups will be offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday with a variety of times. 
  • Students will have a packet to do at home to help them better understand the lessons talked about in small groups. 
  • All students will be required to attend small group and complete their packets. 
  • First meeting will be September 18th-21st.
  • Mandatory parent meeting on September 18th, will last 1/2 hour @7:30pm.

Shine Program (Special Needs)

For those children who are unable to learn with a traditional structured curriculum and have received a special needs diagnosis, we offer an “adaptive curriculum” for Religious Education as well as sacramental prep.  Please email Michelle Kustarz.
