Divine Mercy Sunday is the Sunday after Easter (April 12th).
This was inspired by Jesus’ appearances to St. Faustina, expressing his desire that we better understand how unending and deep his mercy for us is – especially through the sacrament of reconciliation. He also desired to see us respond in the same way by being merciful to others. For our Sunday Masses on 4/16, we will recite together prayers in honor of the Divine Mercy. Because she wants us to receive the fullness
of forgiveness, the Church also offers a plenary indulgence on that day for those who participate in
these devotions at Mass – the complete forgiveness of all sins and of all punishments for our sins.
There are four conditions to gain a plenary indulgence:
(1) sacramental confession
(2) reception of Holy Communion (which you
can do at Mass on Divine Mercy Sunday)
(3) prayers for the intention of the Holy Father
(we will do that together at the end of Mass)
(4) detachment from all sin and its attraction

DIVINE MERCY NOVENA
While it is not part of the requirements for the indulgence on Divine Mercy Sunday, one way to prepare for Divine Mercy Sunday is to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet each day for nine days before the feast – which would start this week on Good Friday. Click the link above for the Chaplet.
